Why is regular School attendance important?
By law, all children of compulsory school age (5-16) must receive a suitable full-time education.
Once your child is registered at school, you are legally responsible for making sure that they attend regularly. If your child fails to do so, you risk getting a penalty notice or being prosecuted. You also need to think about the negative impact upon the following:
your child's learning
their friendships
their confidence and self-esteem
Gentleshaw monitors attendance of every child in the school and in partnership with the Education Welfare Office.
For 2017-2018 school year we achieved 96.4% attendance. Our School's target for 2018-2019 school year is 97%. We believe this target to be achievable.
If your child is sick or absent, please call the school office on 01543 227420
Timekeeping
Timekeeping is also important in the education of your child. If your child is persistently late then they are missing out on important learning opportunities at the start of a lesson.
